EAT WELL, EVEN AWAY FROM HOME
It all begins with a lasting friendship. We met when we were 7, and although life took us down different paths—we lived in different countries, worked in different worlds—the moment to reunite arrived just when we both felt it was time for a change. To take a leap and see what's born from passion.
This is how ØKRE was born: We love eating well, new flavors, old-fashioned flavors, wooden spoons, our grandmothers' stews... just like getting lost in the mountains, loading our bikes with a sleeping bag and four changes of clothes, shelters, the grip of the rocks, or listening to the waves crash from the van.
Flavor and adventure are our greatest allies, and ØKRE is the result of these two passions. We want every adventure to be filled with memorable moments, adrenaline, and plenty of flavor.
We realized that, on many long adventures, eating time was short. There was energy, there were views, there was effort… but there was no food that excited us. Neither in flavor nor quality. And when you've been pedaling, hiking, or enduring the cold for hours, what you want isn't just to fill your stomach: you want to eat something that reminds you of the value of what you're doing.
HOW WE DO IT:
We strive for something very simple: the same things that excite you when you eat at home, you can take with you on your outings. But we also want them to be real food, without flavoring powders, texturizers, or any other additives. We believe in slow-cooked experiences, just like our food. Because authenticity takes time, effort, and a great deal of passion.
To achieve this, we use freeze-drying as a process to preserve food at its peak splendor, ensuring it not only retains almost all of its nutrients but also maintains its texture and flavor. Initially, only astronauts could experience these foods, but now we can enjoy them wherever the world takes us.
OUR VALUES:
We're inspired by nature. We believe food creates memories, just like a summit conquered, a journey well spent, or a day shared. That's why combining cooking and adventure seems almost instinctive to us.
We want people to experience these moments with us, a small but essential part of their experience. We want our freeze-dried food to be not a solution, but a pleasure. It should be healthy, additive-free, but also tasty. Just like our grandmothers cooked: with local products and real flavors. That's what we aspire to: a cuisine that's both traditional and modern.
And we're also motivated by something else: healthy living, sports, friendships, and spending time in nature. Because being outside, moving, breathing, and eating well is a way to live more intensely. And that's what we want to convey.
COMMUNITY
Since we're in no rush to get there, we've chosen to make this a collective journey, so we can reach further and create something bigger. We're excited to see that the passion for new adventures is growing and that the admiration for the power of nature leaves no one indifferent when you get close to it and experience it up close. We want to be part of this respectful admiration for those who find their outings a way of life.
